OK Guys, I know I'm a dinosaur from the dark ages, and waaay behind the times on communications stuff - but would someone tell me what the devil an LG is, and what unlocked means? And XP3 and some other stuff?? Sounds interesting, but I'm lost. I have an old basic Samsung that I hate, it's falling apart and I must get something soon - and I'm currently tied to AT&T which I despise and hope to change soon - but I know almost nothing about the new stuff. Would you mind enlightening me just a bit here. Off list would be appreciated. Thanks. John On 12/14/2012 9:57 PM, Alistair Bell wrote: > I bought mine second hand. Really just a basic dumb phone but tough, and being a clumsy clod, I need that. Can take a meter underwater and a lot of knocks. Thanks for the speakout tip, if i ever get an iPad for logging rad navigation, I'll remember that tip. > > cheers > > alistair > > On 2012-12-14, at 4:17 PM, neil n wrote: > >> Just the other day, I was perusing the Sonim on line. Card about 20 bucks, buy time as you need it, no contract. Pretty well same coverage as the big carriers. I'm using it on a Sonim XP3 (grrr rugged!) and it is working out fine. >>> >>> alistair >>> >>> On 2012-12-14, at 12:25 PM, neil n wrote: >> >> >>>> Not sure if Rogers et al up offer a prepaid monthly plan or similar, >>>> but wouldn't that, and a new SIM card be obtainable w/o a Canadian >>>> address?
