Subject:   WAS: Starter Motor... Failure: NOW: 50 Circuit Weirdness. ECU Related?

So in reading Bentley, I see 50 from ignition switch also goes to the ECU (to energize it while cranking?)

Symptoms: turn key to crank starter, starter won't turn, but the brake " ! " light goes on, parking brake is OFF. (released)

I had recently swapped in a working ECU. This issue no start happened shortly there after.

Could there be a short in the ECU or elsewhere that is causing the 50 circuit to short thus causing the starter not to engage or turn?

Easy to find out if ECU is the fault, as I have the one that c/w the van (it works).

Neil.
