        I'm selling my 1981 VW Vanagon Westfalia with 186,653k miles on it.
This particular Vanagon has quite a story to tell. It may not be a
perfect and flawless representation of a Vanagon, but it comes with a
HUGE stack of maintenance records and even the original window sticker!
This bus traveled across the country from Florida, New York, Colorado
and even ALASKA!!! It's amazing that the body and frame are in such good
 shape for the amount of road time it has. The engine was rebuilt approx
 50k miles ago, although it may need to be rebuilt once more.



The GOOD: The body has minimal surface rust, only around windows. Comes
with all the accessories (Fridge, stove, aux gas heater, 2 tables, water
 tank, sink, bottom bed, top bed, pop top, front swivel seats,
curtains). Many parts have been replaced including the fuel tank. The
canvas top is an good condition with small patched hole which is
practically unnoticeable.



The BAD: Not drivable. The engine WILL run but it has zero compression
on cylinder # 1 and smokes under acceleration. It will probably need a
rebuild. The brakes do not work because the rear wheel cylinders are
leaking fluid. I have the new wheel cylinders but haven't bothered
replacing them. The left front brake caliper needs to be replaced since
the bleeder valve broke off. I also have a new caliper in the box. Front
 seats need to be reupholstered.



I drove this bus only a handful of times since it was purchased a little
 over a month ago before it lost compression. It handles really well and
 seems to be fairly solid for an antique vehicle. The weight
distribution is nearly 50/50 with a full tank of gas. I would love to
finish restoring it but don't have the time to put into it as of now.
