Alistair,

Good information to know. It has been too long since I went through the research to figure out how to obtain and activate a sim card for the "new ipad" in Canada so I do not remember all of the particulars. But the one I was trying to obtain and activate from Rogers was a prepaid. But even then, they would not activate for me since I had no Canadian address. In retrospect, not getting one was really no big deal since I would not have had access in 99% of the places we traveled. But it was annoying that having made three phone calls before the trip that I was given bum information.

We were able to find WiFi in most libraries (the one I used outside the closed library in Eagle, AK was extremely fast) and many coffee shops. Frankly, not having 3g for the iPad was probably a good thing since I could concentrate on the trip and couldn't waste time searching on the internet.
