Aha! I Forgot the Dreaded PO's secret fuse move and wiring challenge. Got a few of my own. <G>

You're not alone in having knocking out that circuit by changing the map light bulb without powering down, It's way too easy to do.

If you guys ever have the occasion to work on yer Vanagon aircon, (and we ought to be doing that most of the time anyway) be sure and remove the battery ground strap first- It's ridiculously easy to demonstrate the big bang theory right there in the tight confines of the D pillar, and your eyesight is precious.
