I recon the addition of the PVC "holders" will allow you to hold quite a bit of weight. By quite a bit, i mean my rear hatch weighs about 250lbs (Spare tire, Gary Lee Rack, Hi Lift Jack, 5gallons of gas, shovel, pick axe, chain, nostalic stickers, bike)....... and it can be held up by a pair of vice grips. I've only done it once, and i was terrified of being cut in half.....but it did work. I'll never do it again, that's just too heavy!
