dear first vehicle with storage and cupboards
where to put stuff is a simple question with paradoxical answers as many as
the owners group can support ..
the fellow /gal with a tricked out vanagon or syncro on their way to the
tip of south america on highway 101 will have all sorts of neat places to
put chains and fuel and stuff like that ...
one time i tried to keep spare fuel in the luggage rack area up above the
cab-- several stops later the fuel was streaming down my window ... ok stop
and get new container ...start again
so the first rule of thumb i guess should be --will i cause any damage or
disruption if i put this item there -- it would be silly to put your pistol
in the porridge flakes just because they both start with P
for me the key is manifold ... ask your self what sort of situation would
you be in if you were going to require the item you were needing ... then
ask your self how bad that might get ...
lets say you have a tow rope of some 25 feet on board ... think ok will i
be able to open the back hatch if this item is required ... or will i be
somewhere that has the back hatch blocked ...
the answer will be different for the person running between kwiki mart and
home base and the person following the old oregonian trail ... i could
never understand why they moved the spare under the front ... oh well ...
chains and stuff like that often feel more comfortable under the rear seat
and if there is some chance of rattle being a problem ...you can install
any variety or combination of towel and carpet pieces to keep the
conjugation of metals down to a minimum ...
if you are crossing any borders it is also a good idea to keep an itemized
list with a map showing where each item is located ... sometimes ...the
"friendly and helpful servant of the people" will ask you to pull over and
hand them the keys while you step inside ... the list will provide them
with the comforting knowledge that you know where you towel is and are
therefore a savvy traveler
so as you get ready to commence a journey ... begin by asking your self --
what will i require - when and how hard will it be to fetch out if the
circumstances are less than favorable ... then be prepared to shift things
around as the trip progresses ... your stainless steel cocktail mixer
will soon go to the bottom of the pack if you are traveling through a
drinks served palace ...
ps .. really like the well thought out email addy lab@rynth ... har har har
... well done
so wel done in fact i imagine you will have a well stocked and well
organized vehicle when you have completed the task
regards
