And these nuts are only a buck.

is there any diference between the two links you posted ?
I don't see any yet.
these are the ones I am talking about ..I own about 30 of these or more..
they 'will work' with a Carat alloy wheel..
but if you compared surface area of the cone, they are not the same ..
the stock 'real' bolt or nut is larger in the cone area.
At two bucks each the price is fantastic.
stock bolts are closer to 10 bucks each I think.

I don't know which ones you got from VC ...
but .....they have or may still sell cone seat bolts and nuts that have a
smaller surface area in the cone area, than a true vanagon 14 inch alloy lug
bolt or nut.
If they like are the ones I got from them ..
to use with South African 15 inch steel wheels I got from them a few years
back ...( they sell something different now ) ....they are cone seat bolts
and nuts ..but for steel wheels and not actually exactly the same as the
ones for 14 inch alloy wheels.

I purchased a set of nuts and bolts from Van Café. Chrome plated and
$30/set. Nuts and bolts are different sizes, so you need a new lug wrench
with multiple sockets. I like the extending handle type.

I'm replacing my steelies with a set of factory alloys from a Carat. It
sure looks like I need a longer lug nut on the front (have not pulled rear
tire yet).
Can anyone shed light on what's needed to install these on a stock 85 Westy?
____
Also, I've got a bit of a thunk in the front suspension. When I pulled the
wheel, I can definitely feel play in what I think is the front bushing of
the upper control arm (that wishbone-shaped piece that attaches around the
to of the shock). For the record, I did have some of the front suspension
bushings replaced, but not this one.
I assume that means that this should be replaces ASAP. Anyone care to
comment on the safety/PIA factor of this job?
Thanks in advance.
