Well, I haven't actually closed the stove lid when the burner was turned to that low setting, since I always leave the lid up for a while waiting to be sure the stove is cool before closing. However, more times than I can count, I have turned the burner to that setting and left it on while thinking it off. Went hiking once with it that way. Yikes. I have a marker posted between the burner knobs now that is a reminder to me to be sure the burners are turned to the "off" position.
