hi Dave, for sure it's safer to drive with the propane tank valve off. On ferries ...like in British Columbia ( and maybe Washington state ferries too ) they require you to have your propane tank/s closed off, at thetank. Safer for sure.

and yes, people drive with their propane fridges going. I have not heard of a mishap from doing that though.

But get ready for the attacks, because they are coming. We are about to be pilloried by those who run their refrigerators on propane while underway. I was even given an electronic, digital lashing for pointing out that the owner's book says that one should make sure to turn off the propane valve before getting underway. > > mcneely > >> >> On 1/5/2013 4:33 PM, Dave Mcneely wrote: >>> ---- Don Hanson <dhanson928@GMAIL.COM> wrote: >>>> Here's one for all you westie campers out there....How many of you have >>>> closed the stove lid, after turning the burners "off".....but really >>>> turning them down to the German Low setting where the flame is really low >>>> and almost invisible in sunlight? However, more times than I can count, I have turned the burner to that setting and left it on while thinking it off. Went hiking once with it that way. Yikes. I have a marker posted between the burner knobs now that is a reminder to me to be sure the burners are turned to the "off" position. >>> >>> mcneely >>> > -- > David McNeely >
