Jack, a couple of questions about the tire.  I drive back country and on highway.

BF Goodrich web site has the tire, and offers a caveat that certain listed sizes are not rated for "severe snow conditions."  195/75 - 14 is not one of those sizes.  However, Tire Rack has an asterisk beside that size, saying it is not rated for "severe snow conditions."  Do your tires have the sidewall symbol indicating approved for snow?

What is the maximum inflation pressure for your tires?  Oddly, the BF Goodrich site does not give that datum.  Tire Rack does, at 65 psi, but since Goodrich does not, the sidewall on your tire would be the best place to go.

I will be in the market for new shoes for my beast soon, and I want a more aggressive tread to better handle some of the back roads I travel.
