In 1975, an ex-con neighbor of mine in San Francisco offered up his '67 Pullman 600 & '63 Gullwing coupe. Each was $3,000. My neighbor was a freshly minted parolee seeking some quick cash. He had paid a local garage to store both vehicles during his incarceration. Unfortunately, the owner of said establishment permitted his dogs to use the 600 as a canine condominium. The Gullwing was in similarly horrible shape. I got an estimate to have the repairs to the left front bodywork which came to $4500. I was a student with "champagne taste on a Pepsi budget". I regretfully declined the offer. Local specialty car outfit bought the SL and resold after repairs for what was then pricey at $65K. Another outfit got the 600 and resold for $17K. It's two of those that got away.:-(
