Reminds me, the last repair on my Lotus Esprit. The alternator needed replacing. I was quote $650 for new one. Shop decided it was much more economical to send the old one off to get rebuilt. I've a V8 Esprit. You sort of half to drop the engine to replace the alternator. All told bill was around $3500.
