The Nokian's are very good on snow. I think it's because they've been aggressively siped as they are built. And for a "winter" tire that I run year round, they last well. After about 20k, the sipes are gone and then they're less effective. If bfg makes theirs in the US, or Canada, siping some of those might be a good way to go.
