Actually, the siping I have had done had no effect on the warranty. I've always had the work done at the dealer when I buy the tires, at the end of the transaction they cheerfully hand me my warranty envelope. I have had to replace one tire that was siped, again, the dealer cheerfully replaced it for free, siped and everything. Well, that question certainly is something to consider. I suspect that if you have the siping done, all warranties, implied, stated, liability, whatever go out the door, with a signed waiver by the customer. I know I once had a Michelin tire that was not quite round. The dealer offered to do something he called "mic it out." He claimed he could make the tire round by that process, which involved shaving the tire a tiny bit. He wanted to do that rather than replace the tire. But then he wanted me to waive the tire warranty. I declined, and insisted on a new tire. It took a bit, but I got the new tire.
