If the law is that you have a snow flake on the tire, and you get into an accident without a snowflake on the tire, get a good lawyer and don't expect much from insurance. 

Your tires are the life of the vehicle. Everything else is really secondary, as it all relies on the tires to make the car operate the way you want.
