Does he even use the dimmer? There is also a separate fuse just for those lights. A short or added gauge lights are the usual cause of the rheostat failing. You can wire the gauge lights to the parking lights if the dimmer is not needed.

The dimmer function of the headlight switch on my son's '91 Westy failed, taking out all the dash lights. Does anyone have a new or used one I could buy? The usual list vendors do not have any available.
