As much as I don't like the idea of poisoning them, it is probably the easiest route. They get thirsty after eating the blue sweeties, then run off in search for water. The only thing I am concerned with is other animals eating the poisoned mouse. I once used live traps, not wanting to take a life. As an experiment, I tried different foods for bait. One successful bait food was chocolate pudding. So, on my way to work, I take this terrified chocolate covered mouse with me. I drop him in another part of town, walk about 10 feet, and see a cat heading for him. On my return home, I looked. It appeared he died of heart attack or cold rather than cat. So, perhaps taking is more humane. I just moved away from Vancouver (in a neighbourhood full of cats) to Bowen Island (country side, no cats in sight), so clearly I should get on this before they invade. I think I like the idea of the high pitched sonic device - will probably drive the poor dogs mad though. Tom |
