if I may .. ( yup ..anengine conversion vanagon ) Ibelieve the orignal conern or problem had to do with drawing too much current through the black 15 wire on Neil's van. - more than an air-cooled van is used to have drawn through that wire.

I have seen a van or two with full time 'key on' power to the fuel pump .. not good in terms of crash/fire safety.

heck ! That reminds me, I have in one of my vans a 2.1 waterboxer ecu that has suppossidly been chipped . It doesn't run any stronger than stock.. and ...fuel pump is running any time the key is on. Bad bad.
