Subject:      Blinking Temp LED and Falling Fuel Gauge

Both problems come and go. 


 


1) The LED does not stop blinking after startup.


Turning the ignition off and on does not clear it up.


It may do this for a few days, then not for weeks.


My question is whether this is the typical symptom for the electrolytic cap
on the instrument cluster going bad.


 


2) The fuel gauge needle will drop slowly, from an accurate reading, all the
way down to the reserve mark.


I watched it fall from a little over half to the reserve mark in about ½
hour while driving.


The fuel level is indicated correctly after turning the ignition off and on
again.


The sender was replaced with an OEM part about 30K ago.


 


I know to check/clean grounds and plan to replace the 10 volt regulator.
