itty bitty mice are actually quite tenacious about hunting for food. they are rodents that gnaw voraciously at whatever. they will be offended/discouraged by a couple of charcoal briquets and a few mothballs in a small container left at access points. that would be ANYthing that contacts the ground. inside the vehicle ; poisoned baits work to cause dehydration. the victim leaves in search of water and usually doesn't make it back. these baits, like traps work well for mostly stationary vehicles because they have to be monitored and replaced. they get in the way of service projects and have to be secured for travel. to cut down prep time for day trips and/or weekends use Irish Spring original scent bar soap. buy the multi packs. the bar, in the box, takes up very little space in cabinetry for the job it does. take a bar, cut it into quarters ; wrap the pieces in `donated' sleeves of nylon panty hose. these can be tied up under the dash as well as hung in closets using twist ties. bonus feature = air freshener. I've heard/read that dryer sheets work as a deterrent. I suspect that they would absorb ambient moisture to some extent. IDK. they will leave your hands smelling nicer than coolant or oils when you forgot to put the work gloves back in the van !     =(:|)    h t h       mike ________________________________ From: Tom Carchrae <tom@CARCHRAE.NET> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Tuesday, January 22, 2013 11:33 PM Subject: Re: Wire Damage from Rodent(s) > Needless to say, try not to let this happen to you! > begs the question; what do you do to stop it? - van cat - mouse traps - poisonous washer fluid - sonic terrors - drive the van and play loud rock and rolll
