         I wouldn't buy a used speedo to fix a problem like that . It will just happen again . 
         Do a google search for speedometer Gears brass . My dad bought one for his 89 and it worked great , it was a little pricey at $30.00 but it worked great . 
         Take a look on Samba , they may advertise there .
