I might have said it already .. I agree that VW's ..and Vanagons are about the most fire-prone cars there are. I'm sure thousands of VW's have caught fire .. starting way back from when the brass inlet fuel pipe in a Solex carb was just pressed in .. and they fall out. Make that 'many thousands' of VW's have caught on fire, and hundreds of waterboxer vanagons.

I am also quite certain VW's have more engine failures and blow-up than anyother brand of car too. though their inline four gas engines are not blow-up prone .. but some of their other enginetypes sure are. The ole ventilated enginecase syndrome, etc.

Name another type of van that is likely on it's 2nd or 3rd engine over a 20 year span. There are exceptions of course ....but generally ...VW Vans often need a new or good used engine every say 7 to 10 years...but we love 'em anyway ..they're worth it.
