How many vans and engines do you work on? I save *all* watercooled vanagon parts, diesel and gas.

once in a while I'll be getting some wbxr engine going and it'll have one bad lifter and I grab one from one of my engines. Depends on if you save stuff or not. Most people don't seem to to me. I can pull the 'just right odd bracket or spring' out of a box that I've been saving 30years.. real fun when that happens.
