I try to approach repairs with the question: "How should I fix this, so that I never have to do it again? Ever. For the rest of my life. Yet how can I make it easier to do the next time, assuming I failed on the former?"

Of course, this philosophy fades real quick as the hours and frustration mount. And then it turns into: "How can I fix this stupid thing NOW, so I can be NOT fixing this stupid thing right now?!"
