Hi Tom;
Same thing happened to my '83. Problem is almost certainly that plastic
"traveler block" is worn out or busted. It is driven by a "worm cable"
running in the track. There's nothing mysterious about it, but it is kind
of a PIA to take out and put in. I tried a couple of creative ways to fix
or replace the block, finally gave up and went to pick your part. By then I
was getting pretty adept at putting them in and taking them out. I'd
imagine the part is fairly pricey new - you have to buy the cable
housing/cable/block complete. Good luck, David
