They certainly don't mind drinking with other divided-attention tasks.  After getting out of college with a German minor I managed to get a summer job at BMW in Munich doing various pre-assembly jobs and was stunned to find an assortment of beers available on the snack cart that came through the factory at break time.  It's probably a grand old tradition but gives one pause to wonder about the workplace accident rate due to consumption.  I traveled by bicycle while there so cannot comment on drinking and driving.
