Good tip. Images taken w/o the use of the magnifying light seemed best, but even my step up Nikkon P7100 has it's limitations. I was using the macro preset but could have improved things fiddling with F stops and what not. (clearly I need to RTM on this)

My "mount" consisted of a chunk of wood in the vice to use as a hand rest.

I find it somewhat entertaining to try and capture images of things like this but with this failure in particular, a tool like that would have been handy. Thanks.
