Well... it's not gimballed (is that a word?), not 2 axis. There are no sides on the cup rest and it freely moves in base. Definitely different in the world of cup holders.

I first saw these 20 years ago in Germany at the Auto Mekanika and thought the were pretty cool back then and I still think they're cool. It's neat watching your coffee cup just swivel around as drive a curvy road. Bit of a distraction though...
