they don't. seems counter-intuitive in the land of the best biers on the world but, they are very strict regarding public intoxication. they only recently incorporated beverage holders in their vehicles to increase market share stateside [the largest car buying nation until we're overtaken by China and/or India].                   mike , fondly remembering Molson Dry            :(

They certainly don't mind drinking with other divided-attention tasks.  After getting out of college with a German minor I managed to get a summer job at BMW in Munich doing various pre-assembly jobs and was stunned to find an assortment of beers available on the snack cart that came through the factory at break time.  It's probably a grand old tradition but gives one pause to wonder about the workplace accident rate due to consumption.  I traveled by bicycle while there so cannot comment on drinking and driving.
