I can't really agree with that 'you get the same thing in an 84Westy' that you do in the later ones. First ..rare is the 84 with power steering ..always a nice thing to have. This one could have PS, though many 84's do not. ..or it can be retrofitted .

84's have the funky early sliding door. In 85 that got improved about 90 % interms of easy operation ..and they seldom break their outside handleslike the early doors do. Any early door needs a good going through to get the outside handle mechanism working smoothly. There is a too-huge giant spring in the mechanism ..that when new was probably not thatbad.. and they never get serviced really. Taking the door panel off, adjusting slack out of the cable, and lubing the heck out of everything that moves makes the 84 and earlier sliding door acceptible ..but it will never be 'click-easy' like an 85 and up slider is. 84's need the later style parking brake handle put on . The stock short 84 parking brake handle is barely adequate. the later style is bomber. 84's have metal main coolant pipes .. I like those just fine ...I don't think the larger OD plastic pipes that start in mid 85 are really better.. they have a nice failure mode on the ends. 86's and up front brakes might be a little better . These early two piston calipers are all right . and .eventually they get stuck pistons ...especially the outer caliper pistons. 84s don't have as much sound deadening in them as later vansdo.

it's still a great buy for the price if it's decent overall. If it's really pretty decent .. and no one buys it, I'd raise the price.
