Subject: another spade terminal question - syncro temp gauge sender
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

One of the things that bugs me about VW engineering choices is the connection to the temp sender on the syncro. The sender is on the forward face of the t-stat housing assembly and is, in my opinion, in a spot which is exposed to some road splash and dirt. Rather than a rubber booted plastic connector (as in the temp II connector), the gauge sender has a disk shaped end and a spade connector is slid sideways on to it. I replaced a section of the wire and the connector a couple of years ago, the original was corroded, and I used a good quality (but not tyco as was referenced in an answer to Neil's connector queries) spade but the connection it makes is less than perfect.

Has anyone come up with a better way of making the wire to sender connection in this situation?

cheers

alistair
