Suggest wrap wire and solder it across the top of the connector button. Sand the button bright and immediately tin it with plumber's flux, then clean thoroughly. Wrap and twist bright clean wire, leave a tail you can press onto the button surface while soldering using electronic solder and quick heat so as not to overheat the sender body. Shrink-wrap and bring the other end to a less exposed place where you can terminate it with connector of choice.

Or just sand everything clean, tighten the grip on the existing connector by pinching the wings and plug it in through a blob of Kopr-Shield or grease. Cover up the grease if practical. Kopr-Shield is wonderful stuff, but it's very friendly, loves to get on other things. The smallest amount you can get will be a lifetime supply. http://www.epinions.com/review/KOPR_SHIELD_Colloidal_Copper_Surface_Treatment_epi/content_479258054276?sb=1 http://www.tnb.ca/en/web-catalogue/?co=CA&lang=en&a=nav&N=&Ntt=kopr-shield
