Yeah, I was miffed about the rubbing of metal filings under the luggage rack. I have to add though that seeing as my van is a pop top conversion, I may not have achieved the correct pressure on the rack (mount placements and rubber washer count) that might have contributed to the problem. I know that my '82 westy had no such rubbing problems.
Years ago, and it is the same seal I am using now, I bought a really nice pop top seal from a local RV place. The rubber and bulb is of high quality, looks more like factory than any aftermarket seals I have seen. It came preloaded with sealant deep in the groove.
