I use Rock Auto a lot, they are the Amazon for car parts, and so is their shipping, since pretty much everything is shipped by the supplier. Ever buy a commodity like hair dressing or ear buds? I'll see four or five prices from different suppliers, and the lowest might be $2.50 and when I go to check out the order is $12 with shipping. I'll go to the next one that is $6.50 and the total is $9.00.

These suppliers figure they can lure us with a low price and we are not going to comparison shop, and sometimes we can't.

Stuart

Last week, someone mentioned that Rock Auto had a good price on diesel muffler mounts. They did. Shipping for one was a couple of bucks. Shipping for two was $12.00. I ordered one, and wrote it off as an anomaly.

Tonight I was going to order some exhaust, intake and muffler pipe gaskets. I found the muffler pipe gasket for $2.51. I entered my zip to calculate the price. Economy shipping was $17.98!!! I called them, figuring they would be glad to know of the mistake, because the gasket could be shipped for the cost of a single stamp.

It wasn't a mistake. It was the shipping price.

Jim
