Our old family house had low voltage switched lights and a rotary
switch in the master bedroom that could control all these lights.
Trouble shooting was a small nightmare for my Dad! I see your point.
In hindsight....
I should have run a new fused + wire from dash to new back up light.
Even so, not a lot of work to change the relay wiring so it's switched
via +
No doubt I was relay obsessed. This created more work. OTOH, I wanted
to leave "room" for another back up light and as it turned out, leave
"room" for possibly more loads on the other (socket) branch.
Obviously I wasn't certain about what to do with the live 87a wire.
Taping it and strapping it down seemed hinky to me. I could've
extended it to the relay box and taped the end (but that box is full),
so figured why not use it? A 12 Volt outlet in that location makes
sense even if it's only used for a trouble light. But I can also see
it being useful for a compressor, fan or ?
Don: I was curious about LED back up lights. Thanks for that.
Neil.
