Hi all. Posted to the WW list as I bet there's Bay owners with the 2.0 air cooled engine. I'm viewing an air cooled Vanagon today. It failed smog for high Hydrocarbons. Don't know if this was for the idle or "driving" test. If the van has a cat, and it looks super old, that may be one cause but..... Suggestions of quick checks or observations I can do on the cat, cold start valve, vacuum leaks, other typical easy to spot flaws, would be most welcome. Not bringing tools, doing a visual inspection only. Happy Vanagon List Down Day, Neil. -- Neil n 65 kb image Myford Ready For Assembly http://tinyurl.com/64sx4rp '88 Slate Blue Westy to be named.
