This type of cracking is a sign the gel-coat has failed and UV is getting
the best of it. Fiberglass underneath will restore some strength and repair
the top also. Then get it painted with some good marine or other protective
paint system. Do the other part of the top also so you don't lose that one.

Hi all.

I'm repairing a 3 way crack at upper corner of this part, but regarding
these fine cracks at bottom front of rack, image:

a. is a repair to these needed? I don't see evidence of this on outer side
of rack.

b. is there enough clearance between the bottom of the rack and roof for a
layer of fiberglass?

Type A questions, but enquiring minds need to know.   :)
