You could also use gel coat. That would give you the same finish you have from the factory. Gelcoat is more forgiving, too and will fill scratches and cracks if worked correctly. Cheaper than painting with good marine paint, and less likely to come loose if your prep isn't 100%. Easier to touch up scrapes, too. That's difficult with L.P. yacht paint.
