Thanx for asking.
Dead as a that ancient bird (not my girlfriend either) - just blank - nobody inside. Never worked since I got the van. Planning a huge trip and it would be nice to see it right there in my line of sight instead of searching for my watch or iPhone.
I can try and do as you suggest but since my stroke and only having one operable hand - things are more of a "challenge" I've found.
