Hi all Crawling around underneath the van the other night, I found the metal heatshield on the bottom of the lower thermostat housing had come loose and moved. The result: the bottom of the housing has melted from exhaust heat. Good that I caught it before a catastrophic failure while driving. To replace the housing, the cooling system will be drained and open. I know I have a seeping coolant flange at the passenger side rear of the motor. That'll get replaced while the coolant system is open. So will the thermostat- might as well. Is there anything else I should replace- even though it looks ok- while the system is empty?
