What exactly is "broken" about your clock?  If it is something like missing characters or something, that problem can be solved by removing the LCD glass and zebra strip connection to PC board, gentle cleaning of both with isopropyl alcohol, and reassembly.  If no display at all, well then that's another issue....bad PCB electronics or no power to it, etc.

Anyway, I fixed my clock on 85 Vanagon by taking apart and cleaning as described.  All back to normal and that was 5 years ago.

Ah yes, “pursuit of perfection when good enough will do” makes Vanagon ownership even more of a hassle!  However, pulling out my phone to check the time while driving is cumbersome with the seat belt blocking pocket access! I guess I could wear a wrist watch.  Or stick one on the dash . . .

Van Cafe says ...'tested in-house by our bolt rounders'....very cute. I like that, 'bold rounders. '

I find so many other more important things to fix on all my various vanagons and the other ones I work on that if the digital clock is a problem ...sometimes I just blank them off with black vinyl tape.

We have so many other time devices everywhere these days anyway . Trying not to know what time it is would be a problem even.
