Thanks for that info Neil. I was working from the Digifant pro training manual. It doesn't reference that fifth pin. It looks like it triggers the high speed fan when AC is in use. I left the AC setup off for my post fire rebuild so it's kinda moot. :-) BTW the whole circuit started working while I was moving those relays around testing voltages and grounds. I'm guessing the fault lies in the wire bundle just ahead of the back box that took some heat in the fire. Till I can get in there at least I know what to wiggle if it quits. I put the pro training pdf on my phone ;-) John Meeks '91 Multivan Stock 2.1 250k miles http://www.vanagonauts.com Vanagon Rescue Squad iPhone and Android apps On Mar 11, 2013 4:17 PM, "neil n" <musomuso@gmail.com> wrote: > Hey John. > > Though you've found out, for the rest, the power (ECU) relay has 5 > pins after '88/89. > > I think there's a changeover in '88 as my '88 has a 4 pin relay. > Van-cafe shows this: > > > http://www.van-cafe.com/home/van/page_1126_750/cooling_fan_relay_88_thru_91_ecu_relay.html > > Neil. > > > > On Mon, Mar 11, 2013 at 1:05 PM, John Meeks <vanagon@gmail.com> wrote: > > > The fuel pump relay is inboard, closer to the engine. > > > > > > > > > -- > Neil n > > 65 kb image Myford Ready For Assembly http://tinyurl.com/64sx4rp > > '88 Slate Blue Westy to be named. > > '81 VanaJetta 2.0 "Jaco" http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/ > > Vanagon VAG Gas I4/VR Swap Google Group: > > > http://groups.google.com/group/vanagons-with-vw-inline-4-cylinder-gas-engines > |
