Neil - thanks for the link to the rear speakers. presently, I'm rolling with a pair of Aiwa shelf speakers on the luggage deck floor. sorta ghetto. sorta broke college student. so, I'd pay that for just the mounts.  as for the boxes on the cheap , I'd gut them. My Audi has a pair  of rockin good Polk Audio speakers on top of the dash [factory mount]. I'd go with them , again. they put out really well for their size. the sound goes up to the windshield mostly but, kinda in the face too. they're about 3.5 to 4 in. can measure tomorrow if you're interested - the box isn't here.   h t h          mike
