Pretty cold there. The Atacama (the driest region on earth, average annual ppt. 0.04" per year) and the Kalahari are places with comparable precipitation amounts, but considerably warmer than the Antarctic. At least they do have a summer, and in the Kalahari winter is not that particularly cold. mcneely
