Sounds like an AFM.. the common failure modes I see in them are dead spots .. and subtle 'uneven running.'

fwiw ..there are many cars that have their 02 sensor in only one back of the cyinders.. like one bank of a V-6 or a V-8 .. so having the sensor in just one pipe might work ok.

that's a lto of miles. How does the output read with a digital ohm meter ?

if you have identical front and rear tires .. especially if they are 14 inch ones and D load rating , I'd probably think the handling is pretty bad , like 'choppy' and understeering, compared to what they can be , in my experience.

they don't have to change directions on bumps as vanagons do with D load rating front tires, thus requiring constant small steering correction .. and they don't have to be under-steering pigs either, which many of them are.

and with really a lot of weight ..sure ...they don't handle that well then. and , I just did 360 miles or so round trip to Bend ..taking most of my vanagon tools.. a 4 speed vanagon transmission, a whole syncro vanagon transmission, and a vanagon automtic trans. that's about 450 lbs or so in transmissions only. I can't say my adventurewagon with its tire set up really noticed the addtional weighthandling wise, or power on hills wise either.
