If you have a Westy then regular Vanagon non-Westy seats will slip right into the tracks and be more comfy than what you have.  You might even find them in matching fabric. They will be a little taller as the seat cushions are thicker and more supportive.  The Eurovan seats (what I used, '93-'97 seem to be the most easily adapted) are about as comfy as the regular Vanagon seats and are the same height but they require that the downturned edges of the seat rails be trimmed off in order to slip into the Vanagon tracks.  Later EVs have different seat rails that may require more work to adapt; I think '98 was the year they changed so be careful of what you buy. Going from a Westy seat to better seats is fairly cheap and easy.  Going from a non-Westy seat to better seats, not so much.  Several threads on the Samba about this, some with photos of my own seat swap.  Good luck.
