Good luck! My '85s paper cones are shot and full of tears. Found some from an '89 and they were the same. They also distort badly at volumes need to hear NPR over the road noise at my age!

I'm going retro. I found original speakers in an '89 in a local junkyard and grabbed them for my doors to replace the "upgraded' ones with the newer stereo the PO installed in our '87 Westy. Tired of knocking the grilles off them and scraping my knuckles when winding the windows down or up.

I know about the Cabrio rear window handle extenders and other options but I found these first so will try this approach. I don't listen to music so do not think these oldsters will affect the quality of NPR talk listening. I could be wrong.

Well, it's Friday, so why not. I searched the archives for the past two years and found a couple of posts: Alistair (Boston Acoustic separates) and Dennis (6x9s in bottom of door).

Just wondering if you are still satisfied or if anyone has other ideas. I'm thinking of the Pioneer speakers Go Westy sells (but from Amazon) for the rear, but I'm open to ideas for the front. Pioneers plus a 6x9, or matched separates?

The last time I installed 6x9s in the door the grille was flimsy and I kept kicking it off getting out of the van, so I won't make that mistake again.

Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Stuart
