IIRC, the solenoid type draw .5 - 1 amp when activated. That is one reason why they and similar products don't always fit well with solar setups, since you don't want to waste that much of the solar panel output. Of course you can still use them with solar but best to understand the draw and avoid it when the solar is providing the only charging current.
