Yup, he PO had installed a Boston Acoustics 6" and separate tweeter, (powered by amp) plus a pair of 4" pioneers in my van. The tweeters were mounted behind the stock speaker grill on door. The 6" mounted down low on door which required cutting some metal (and it was not done very cleanly). The 4" are in the rear upper cabinet (were originally in A/C unit back there). The amp was under pass. seat, I moved to under driver's seat.

A pair of crossovers are tucked up under either side of dash.

Sounds ok, but I have found that stiffening up the door panels makes the 6" sound much, much better.

Yes, the 6" units down there on bottom of door do get kicked. I made some aluminum bezels and ss mesh grills to protect the speakers. This worked but is a lot of work.

I'm loath to give up space for a sub woofer even though the system needs one. I think if I were to install a sub, I would make a between seat console/cup holder/cubby thing with a small sub built in and with RCA jacks for quick disconnects.

I’m thinking of the Pioneer speakers Go Westy sells (but from Amazon) for the rear, but I’m open to ideas for the front.
